Accreditation Committee

Functions:

1. To assess, monitor and evaluate midwifery programmes proposed by midwives' training schools / institutes for the Council's consideration;

2. To coordinate inspections to existing midwives' training schools/grounds and institutes applying for accreditation as midwives' training schools/grounds to ensure that the standard of midwifery education and training facilities comply with the requirements prescribed by the Council; and

3. To make recommendations on applications for accreditation/re-accreditation of midwives' training schools/grounds, provider institutes for the Post-registration Education in Midwifery scheme and return-to-practice programmes for the Council's consideration.

Education Committee

Functions:

1. To make policy recommendations in respect of midwifery education and training;

2. To review and make recommendations on curriculum guidelines and implementation requirements;

3. To review and make policy recommendations on the midwifery registration examinations; and

4. To organize and conduct the midwifery registration examinations.

Professional Development Committee

Functions:

To advise the Midwives Council of Hong Kong on:-

1. the delineation of the domain of midwifery practice;

2. the code of professional conduct for midwives;

3. the standard of professional practice;

4. the development of continuing midwifery education; and

5. the policies and strategies on the future developments of midwifery practice.

Credentials Vetting Panel

Preliminary Investigation Committee (a statutory committee)

Functions:

The Preliminary Investigation Committee (PIC) was established by the Council under section 12 of the Midwives (Registration and Disciplinary Procedure) Regulations, Cap. 162 to :

1. make preliminary investigations of complaints or information touching on any matter that may be inquired into by the Council; and

2. make recommendations to the Council for the holding of an inquiry under the Ordinance.
